The University of California, Merced men's volleyball season may be over but the awards are still flowing in. The Bobcats were honored by the NAIA Men's Volleyball Independent Conference with a number of All-Conference awards this season.
Hala'ufia finished his Bobcat career in style this season, hitting a ridiculous .399 on the year. That was good enough to place him eighth in the country in that category. He also finished the year ranked 20th in the country in blocks per game. He recorded a total of 129 kills, ten solo blocks, 48 block assists, and 32 digs.
Smith had another stellar season for the Bobcats. The junior outside hitter led the team with 210 kills, and finished 11th in the country in kills per game with 3.5. He also added 14 service aces, 30 block assists, and 88 digs.
Pelfini had a career year as the team's setter. The junior finished with 617 assists, and averaged 9.64 per game, good enough for 11th in the nation. He also proved his worth defensively, totaling 110 digs and 25 block assists.
In addition to success on the court, several Bobcats were commended for their academic prowess as well. Samuel Gottesfeld, Ben Nilsen, Patrick Pascual, Pelfini, Jacob Shelton, and Andrew Weisner were all named to the Academic All-Conference Team. UC Merced's six Bobcats topped to list for the highest total of any conference team.
